How to Measure Banjo Fittings and Banjo Bolts?
The majority of Banjo Bolts have threads just like a standard bolt would. For these the points of measurement for either side of the bolt would be the outer threads. You can use calipers to measure both male and female banjo fittings. The part that makes a banjo fitting different than an elbow joint or a regular bolt is the tiny hole on the bolt itself (below the washer, and below the hex head).
A quality set of calipers will give you an accurate measurement for your banjo fittings. To measure the male side, tighten the long side of your calipers over the banjo bolt threads with the threads running parallel to the jaws of the caliper. The same thing applies to the female side of your banjo fitting except that you use the smaller end of the calipers to measure the female side.
