Should I use braided hose fittings or W series bite to the wire fittings
Should I use braided hose fittings or W series bite to the wire fittings?
The 2 main things to look at when you are trying to decide between braided hose fittings and W series bite to the wire fittings are the pressure rating and whether you are using spiral hydraulic hose.
W series fittings are compatible with spiral hydraulic hose like our Hydraulax Tough cover hoses, SAE 100R1, R2, R16, R17, and EN 856 4SH hydraulic hose. They need to be with spiral hydraulic hoses because they are made to bite to the wire inside hence why they are called bit to the wire fittings. Because of this W series bit to the wire fittings are known for their high-pressure capabilities ensuring a reliable and leak-free connection.
Braided hose fittings are best suited for medium to high pressure applications and tend to have a lower pressure rating than W series bit to the wire fittings. Braided hose fittings are compatible with our Hydraulax Tough cover hoses, SAE 100R1, R2, R3, R16, R17, hydraulic jack hose, and pressure washer hose.
Basically, if you need to know whether to use Braided or W Series bit to wire fittings just check and make sure the fitting fits your pressure rating and remember that W series fittings must be used with spiral hydraulic hose. If both fittings fit your pressure rating, it is usually better to go with braided hose fittings as they tend to be priced lower than W series fittings.
